The Hollywood Divas took over Hollywood Tuesday night to host a premiere party for their new TV One docu-series. HipHollywood was on the red carpet for the star-studded event and caught up with the ladies to find out why they decided to do a reality show and what fans can expect.
“It was something completely different than Girlfriends,” explained Golden Brooks. “Something different than I was doing with my career…I thought this would be a good outlet to kind of sample and test out another side of me.”
Brooks is joined by Countess Vaughn (The Parkers), Paula Jai Parker (Hustle & Flow), Elise Neal (The Hughleys) and Lisa Wu (Real Housewives of Atlanta) on the series.
Wu, told us many people may wonder why she’s on a show following the lives of beloved Hollywood actresses, but she got her start writing for TV and acting before becoming a housewife. “I’m back home doing what I love, so people get to see me in another light which was a lot of fun … I’m amongst my peers and it feels great.”
And while the ladies had lots of fun, Parker told us there was a little drama along the way, especially when it came down to working on a short film she was directing. “We all came for each other at one point,” laughed Parker. “Trying to get five divas together is like a conundrum, like it doesn’t make sense , it’s an oxymoron, but I was able to do it, through patience, God and divine order.”
